Guten Tag Aachen!

Right now, I'm sitting in the train on my way home. But did this weekend actually happen? It felt so unreal and it went by so fast. I met up with friends I made in Hangzhou during my first semester. On Saturday I was meeting up a friend and together we would drive to Aachen to meet the other two. It was really amazing.

The first few hours after arriving we just talked, laughed and were catching up on all the Hangzhou gossip I had for them. Then we walked around the city, passed the Markt, visited the Aachen Cathedral really quick and drank a coffee until the cafe closed. So we figured we had to get some food and bought some pizzas and wine and went to one of my friends' flat where we talked even more.

After a slow start of the next day we had lunch at Habibi - super tasty - and got a coffee - well needed-! Then I found a shop (Nobis Printen) where I wanted to buy some of these "Aachener Printen", which is a spiced cookie. The shop was a bit overwhelming to me.

A reunion without a group picture, is not a reunion! So we had a mini photoshoot at the stairs next to the Rathaus Aachen (the city hall) and stayed there until our butts were frozen.

To warm up, we went back to one of my friends' flat and had a tea. After talking for hours, we decided to go back home again. Because I had to travel around 7 more hours to get home.

It was an amazing mini trip and I feel many more meetups coming in the future!

  2. Seems like you had a wonderful weekend! Of course it’s always a pleasure to reunite with a group of friends, especially if you haven’t seen each other in a while. :)

  7. Did you go to the Christmas market there? Or is it not open yet? (I don't know the dates)
I was thinking about going there early December because I've heard great things about it.
Oh, and what filter did you use? The old-timey, orangey one? (on the third picture with the wine and the candles for example)

    1. No unfortunately there was not X-mas market yet! Such a shame, because I really love those!! I heard most markets will be there two weeks before Christmas.
For editing I just used an app called Afterlight and just played around with some different filters and overlays. I don't exactly remember which ones I used, but I think I used the filters "Coral" or "Crest" with the overlay "Dusty 1 or 2". Hope this will help you out a bit or you can always ask me :)

  10. I recognize the feeling of thinking about an event as 'unreal' because it went by so fast and it was so enjoyable. Lucky enough you got beautiful pictures! ;)
